Folkestone Apartment, Kent
Year: 2025
The transformation of this Victorian apartment was a study in unearthing hidden potential. Originally defined by a dark, fragmented layout, the home’s true character was buried beneath decades of compromised design.
The heart of our intervention centered on the efficiency of the planform. By stripping back the unnecessary bulk of the existing kitchen and reconfiguring the core of the apartment, we reclaimed the spatial logic of the Victorian architecture. This strategic "tightening" of the service zones unlocked the floor plan to give an open-plan environment, allowing for a far more intuitive way of living and entertaining.
The material palette focussed on tactility, utilising soft, natural finishes and organic textures that catch the changing coastal light throughout the day. What was once a series of dark, disconnected rooms has been reborn as a sophisticated seaside retreat.
